Acid reflux is a physiological condition that causes the content of the stomach to reflux back into the esophagus and throat. There are many more factors that contribute to the development of acid reflux; the main cause is inappropriate activity of the lower esophageal sphincter. Additional causes of acid reflux are inappropriate diets, unhealthy living standard or other physical dysfunction and conditions. Eating too quickly, especially when the food is full of fat, typically causes indigestion. Indigestion can be felt as a burning sensation in the upper portion of the stomach, general nausea, bloated, heartburn and among others a bitter taste can result in the mouth from stomach acid that is coming up into the esophagus.
DIFFERENCE IN ACID REFLUX AND INDIGESTION:

There are many conditions of the both acid reflux and indigestion to mean the same thing. But there are number of differences between the acid reflux and indigestion. Acid reflux can be a serious condition if people will not take the proper treatment of it. Acid reflux is also known as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Mostly people who suffer with this have pain in the esophagus and throat as an acid from the stomach causes damage to the lining. If people will not do the treatment on time, the symptoms can become unbearable as the lining of the esophagus is slowly eroded away by the stomach acid. Over-eating too quickly commonly causes indigestion. Stomach is bombarded with food and it produces acid in extreme amount. Indigestion is often thought to be a similar version of acid reflux. But this is not really true. Only some cardinal symptoms are same. One of the most common symptoms of indigestion is a gassy episode and often sufferers of true acid reflux feel these episodes. Indigestion sufferers may also have a problem feeling around chest and shoulder area.

CONCLUSION:

Mostly people think that indigestion and acid reflux are the same. Both the problem are generally caused by eating too much or quickly. Although they have same similar symptoms but there are many differences between them.
