A lot of misconception about concerning vinegar and heartburn, because some people swear that by vinegar to cure heartburn and some are against it. Vinegar being the natural remedy there are several things know about it. The below mentioned are the facts and myths concerning heartburns and vinegar.

Myths

 

1. Vinegar is reported to cure heartburn with its alkaline properties. Although, many people says it instantly cures heartburn. Science doesn't support the claim. Since it adds more acid to stomach and therefore increasing the chances of having heartburn. There is no proof that it relieves heartburn it actually increases the possibility.

2. Vinegar balances the digestive tract. Vinegar is an acid, and the stomach it filled with acid. There is not balance, there is only more acid being introduced. To feel better when some vinegar intakes after a heavy meals is possible because it is acid.

3. Vinegar is full of vitamins and minerals,, which is a need of body. So, it is a good supplement for the diets. Different vinegars have different properties. Most are processed with very little nutritional value left.

1. Many people swear that a heartburn and vinegar intake is related. Vinegar is one of the foods listed on Do Not Eat by doctors. Taking vinegar on regular basis can cause diarrhea and erosion of stomach lining. Vinegar is a condiment

2. Vinegar is an acid. Heartburn is reflux of stomach acid into the esophagus. Taking vinegar adds more acid to the stomach.

3. Gastro paresis is a complication of diabetes. Vinegar could help with the slow digestion or gastro paresis. If having slow digestion, one can take vinegar to help. The most common dose is one to two teaspoons 20 minutes before eating a big meal. When mixed with water or other liquid, it is ok.

4. Apple cider vinegar is most listed as supplement since it is the least processes. It does contain potassium, calcium, copper, magnesium, phosphorous and iron but the amount it very small. To get supplemental amount, one has to drink a lot of vinegar.

Thus, we can say that vinegar has never been scientifically proven to cure or relieve heartburn. However, it also has damaging effects if not used in moderation.
