Gastro Esophageal Reflux Disease

1) Avoid eating heavy and large meal. Because it puts lot of food in the stomach at one time, this makes an attack more effective. People should always eat smaller meal and try to maintain the time between their meals to around fours hours at least.

2) Coffee will stimulate gastric acid secretion. It's the caffeine that does it. Alcohol also stimulates gastric acid.

3) Avoid eating all fatty foods. Fried and oily foods especially can irritate and lead to an acid reflux attack, so people should avoid eating burgers and hot dogs.

4) Avoid or minimize use of acidic and spicy foods. Such as oranges, lemons, tomatoes, and chilly based meals,

5) Some things which most of the people thinks of as being good for us, like vegetables and milk can be bad for acid reflux sufferers. Avoid eating cabbage, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower and onions. Simultaneously, avoid all milk-based products.

6) Food are not only the cause of acid reflux but also the way people sleep may be one of the reasons, elevate the head of bed. Don't add pillows- that is not effective. Actually, raise the head of the bed by placing blocks six inches or so high under the head feet of the bed.

7) Finally, people should not lie down after having their meal.
